The motif is the author's memories of his daughter.

I combined my favorite elements: light, painting, and science, and shaped them into brush-like forms.
The handle is designed with straight lines like shining light and in the shape of a crystal or droplet, capturing memories with my daughter.

In jewelry terminology, small diamonds that surround the main gemstone are called melee diamonds.
I hope that the memories and the cutlery that embodies them will become a small gem that colors my daughter's life, and that it will enhance the protagonist, my daughter.

Rouille

The “weathered color” that condenses the time Hiro Kashihara has devoted to cutlery, and the “muted glow” that gradually develops in the hands of its user.

At the boundary where these two times overlap—like waves meeting the shore—a subdued tone emerges. Kashihara named this finish “Rouille.”

With use, small scratches and soft tarnish appear, leaving traces of the owner’s daily life.

It is a series that embodies the idea of “Spoon You Nurture.”

I create small supporting characters who quietly uphold the beauty and deliciousness of the table.

My journey into cutlery making began when my wife, who loves cooking, collected beautiful tableware and cutlery. Wanting to create moments that would make her happy and to offer her beautiful tea times, I began making cutlery myself.

Since 2020, I have been working as a cutlery artist, developing a style based on the concept of “Spoon You Nurture,” using materials such as brass and nickel silver that enhance the enjoyment of aging over time.

Today, I see cutlery as a canvas, creating new works by distilling scenes and moments I find beautiful into simple forms.

The Appeal of Brass

Brass is a material traditionally used in antique tableware.
It is an alloy of copper and zinc, and typically possesses a beautiful golden luster.

In Hiro Kashihara’s work, the surface is heat-treated to create a distinctive matte, amber-toned finish. This process produces subtle shadows and depth, allowing the material’s quiet character to emerge.
