Numbered is a limited edition series in which every step—from design to the final finish—is carried out entirely by Hiro Kashihara.
This edition presents a new teaspoon in the Jeté series.
Its design balances soft, rounded charm with a quiet sense of tension.
The flowing form, seamlessly connecting the handle to the bowl, creates a graceful presence—whether held in the hand or resting on the table.
For Hiro Kashihara’s regular works, certain processes such as cutting and polishing are carried out with the support of his studio assistants.
In contrast, every stage of the Numbered edition—from design and cutting to raising, forging, and finishing—is completed solely by Hiro Kashihara’s own hands.
Because every process is carried out by a single maker, only a very small number of pieces can be created at a time.
Moreover, each design is born from a desire to capture its form in this very moment, and for that reason, it will never be made again.
Each work serves as a record of the thoughts and tactile experience behind its creation.
Every piece is engraved with a serial number, preserving the journey of its making.
The number is not intended to distinguish one piece from another, but to document that unique moment in the creative process.

jeté
A jeté is a jump in which a ballet dancer kicks their leg out to the side.
A delicate, tense, and light dynamic feel is captured in this simple form.
This series features striking, one-of-a-kind designs with striking outward curves and a distinctive silhouette that creates a unique feel.
Rouille
The “weathered color” that condenses the time Hiro Kashihara has devoted to cutlery, and the “muted glow” that gradually develops in the hands of its user.
At the boundary where these two times overlap—like waves meeting the shore—a subdued tone emerges. Kashihara named this finish “Rouille.”
With use, small scratches and soft tarnish appear, leaving traces of the owner’s daily life.
It is a series that embodies the idea of “Spoon You Nurture.”

I create small supporting characters who quietly uphold the beauty and deliciousness of the table.
My journey into cutlery making began when my wife, who loves cooking, collected beautiful tableware and cutlery. Wanting to create moments that would make her happy and to offer her beautiful tea times, I began making cutlery myself.
Since 2020, I have been working as a cutlery artist, developing a style based on the concept of “Spoon You Nurture,” using materials such as brass and nickel silver that enhance the enjoyment of aging over time.
Today, I see cutlery as a canvas, creating new works by distilling scenes and moments I find beautiful into simple forms.
The Appeal of Brass
Brass is a material traditionally used in antique tableware.
It is an alloy of copper and zinc, and typically possesses a beautiful golden luster.
In Hiro Kashihara’s work, the surface is heat-treated to create a distinctive matte, amber-toned finish. This process produces subtle shadows and depth, allowing the material’s quiet character to emerge.
The artist handcrafts each piece.
