Tall plate (sterry-sky)
The "sterry-sky" footed plate is like a serene starry sky trapped within a white vessel.
On its surface are scattered finely crushed pieces of colored glass waste that would have otherwise been discarded. Each piece sparkles delicately when it catches the light, creating a beautiful scene reminiscent of stars twinkling in the night sky, just as its name suggests.
Its clean, elevated form makes even a simple plate of sweets or fruit feel a little more special.
The unique appearance, born from giving new life to materials, is also part of its charm.
Please enjoy the shifting light and shadows that change with every glance.
Artist Profile
yoshida pottery
Born in Kyoto Prefecture.
yoshida pottery currently creates works in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Working under the theme of "utsukusiki" (beautiful vessels), their creations prioritize instantaneous beauty while also carefully considering ease of use and pleasant feel to the mouth.
The cracks (kannyu) that appear in the vessels are natural patterns resulting from the difference in shrinkage rates between the clay and glaze during firing.
As the vessel is used over time, its appearance deepens little by little, evolving into a unique landscape for each user.
Please also enjoy the changing expressions of the vessel over time.
