Born in Kyoto and now based in Nagato, Yamaguchi, Yoshida Pottery creates ceramic works inspired by the theme of “utsukushiki”—a beauty that is meant to be both seen and lived with.
Each piece is thoughtfully crafted not only for its visual beauty at first glance, but also for its comfort in use, from its form to the feel against the lips.
The delicate crackle patterns (kannyu) that appear on the surface are naturally formed during firing through the differing rates of contraction between the clay and glaze. Over time, they deepen in character, quietly becoming part of the unique story of each vessel and the life it accompanies.
