Hello. I’m Hiro Kashihara, owner of Konohino Shop and a sculptural artist.
@hirokashihara
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who showed such wonderful support for the “My Contours” Bangle Exhibition, both in-store and online.
We are currently shipping the pieces to everyone who purchased them online, one by one. We hope you’ll look forward to their arrival.
This exhibition also became a valuable opportunity for our Konohino staff, who do not usually make things themselves, to experience the process of creating, while our production assistants took on the role of selling and communicating about the works—each stepping into something outside their usual roles.
For the Konohino staff, experiencing the process firsthand gave them a sense of what makers go through every day: the difficulty of bringing something from 0 to 1, the challenge of making something turn out as imagined, the anxiety and impatience of wondering whether a piece might never find its way to someone, and finally, the joy when it is chosen and welcomed into someone’s life.
I believe this experience deepened their understanding of, and respect for, the works we handle.
For our production assistants, the experience meant thinking carefully about how to communicate each piece, organizing information, photographing, announcing, displaying, packing, and responding to inquiries—all within a limited amount of time, with the goal of sharing the work with as many people as possible and making the experience of welcoming it into their lives as comfortable as possible.
Because these are connections between people, there is no single right answer. Through the difficulty of searching for what feels most appropriate in each situation, I believe they were able to glimpse just how important it is to connect with the people who receive these works.
The maker and the seller are not separate. In truth, they should be one.
I feel deeply grateful that this exhibition gave us such a meaningful experience—one that will help us, from here on, become better at bringing things of even greater value into people’s lives.
To everyone who welcomed a piece, and to everyone who took an interest and spent time looking at the works,
thank you, truly.
Hiro Kashihara
