Daily Detours -02 [Yawora]
A landscape, a flavor — small moments encountered along the way in everyday life.
In A Little Detour in Our Days, we share quiet fragments from our staff's days off.A nearby shop, a favorite corner of town, sometimes a place a little tarther away.
If we can gently pass along the time spent there — the air, the feeling, the subtle stirrings of the heart — we would be so happy.
─────
On a day off, I drove just a little farther than usual, along a road lined with open rice fields and farmland.
Amidst that landscape stands, almost quietly on its own, an old folk house called “Yawora.”
The building, said to be a renovated barn over 150 years old, held a calm yet somehow warmly embracing presence.

Sliding open the wooden door, a gentle light softly filled the space.
Orders are written by hand on a slip of paper and then passed along.
Even that small extra step somehow becomes part of a pleasant and memorable moment.
On this day, I chose the “tonjiru set meal.”
The hearty soup, filled with chunks of carrot and burdock root, was rich with ginger, slowly warming me from deep within.
Each small side dish was prepared with great care, carrying a nostalgic and comforting taste.
The Japanese tableware, quietly blending into the atmosphere of the building, was equally beautiful.
It was an afternoon that reminded me how simply savoring a good meal, at an unhurried pace, can bring such a deep sense of fulfillment—without the need for anything extraordinary.
A gentle pause, a moment of rest before stepping back into the days ahead.
That is the kind of time I was able to spend.
May a small margin of calm find its way into your days as well.
